This is an ode to the Dewey Decimal System!
With so many turning to the internet for news and information today, it’s become more and more imperative for website managers, marketing teams and SEO strategists to have strong content available on their websites. And, content writers and curators responsible for creating, gathering or dispersing this content need to have strong resources available for that research. Ironically, a lot of this information is found on the internet, but that wasn’t always the case.
Believe it or not, if you wanted to learn more about a specific subject matter prior to the 1990’s you needed to pick up a book. And, most of us borrowed these books from actual brick and mortar libraries. The Dewey Decimal System was similar to today’s methods of adding tags, categories or meta to our online content. It allowed you to search and find the books you wanted to check out and read.
So, here’s to the Dewey Decimal System, the original mother of content organization.
